Nebito Island /2086
Off the Coast of Maryland the manmade Nebito Island, a geographic marvel is commercialized as the modern paradise for pseudo environmentalist/ separatist yuppies to live unattached from the overpopulated and polluted stateside cities. The island consist of over million residents and employees, who coexist amongst the large array of mega-plants genetically engineered to produce the fuels necessary for their automobiles and contemporary buildings. When a group of environmental extremist displeased with the perversion of nature, storm the islands eco control center and set off a botanical bomb designed to turn the island into a dense uninhabitable forest by quadrupling the already abundant plant life, overwhelming the islands streets, buildings and urban development. However during their chaotic sabotage they also trash a science lab busting open several vials which hold a highly contagious mammalian retro virus. The virus quickly becomes airborne and mutates with the already unleashed botanical bomb. Instead of spreading the islands harmless natural and manmade plants the island becomes overpopulated with thousands of dangerous mutated plants, capable of expelling poisonous gases, launching bone penetrating thorns, and manipulating gargantuan vines capable of seizing and constricting the life out of anyone who becomes trapped in their deadly entanglement. With the islands airport and many of its communication ports destroyed by the aggressive roots the U.S. government responds by parachuting in trained soldiers equipped with specialized protective armor to find survivors, re established communication ports, annihilate hostile plant life, and locate and destroy the mother root, which must be wiped out in order to stop the spread. However after parachuting in, they find that the deadly plants are just the beginning of their problems. A tribal breed of humanoid plant has emerged. They are highly intelligent and extremely aggressive towards their favorite hunt; humans!
